Nevertheless, self-discipline is such a positive concept, and if you distort it with negative associations, you will do a lot of harm to yourself. In the formation of self-discipline, discomfort is necessary. Without them, there is nothing to cultivate self-discipline.
Unwillingness to take action due to discomfort is the biggest obstacle to success. Overcoming discomfort is the goal of self-discipline training.
Self-Discipline in Simple Terms
Simply put, self-discipline is to force yourself to
do what you should do, not to do what you shouldn’t do,
whether you like it or not, in order to achieve a power that is beneficial to yourself and others. It translates into their ability to
give up immediate gratification for future benefits (striving to achieve their goals), and overcome their tendency to indulge in harmful impulses and useless habits (compliance with moral standards).
The Value of Self-Discipline
Self-discipline is a key element of personal power.
Your self-discipline will produce many positive results in your life, because it will allow you to master and master all aspects of your life, and lead you to great achievements in all these areas.

The Exercise:
As with muscle exercise, you must develop an exercise plan to develop self-discipline. Meditation is the best exercise to strengthen mental muscles.
Why meditate? Meditation is a kind of exercise of the mind. Self-discipline is spiritual discipline.
The ego is the mind. The mind is the spirit.
This exercise involves training your brain to focus on a selected object.
But you must train this kind of mindfulness to go beyond the essence of pure concentration and allow your mind to reach a more meaningful depth of concentration.
The challenge of exercise is to stay focused for a long time. Keep away from the focal object, just bring it closer gently.
Do this until you can extend your concentration time without being distracted.
When you can focus your attention firmly on anything, you can establish an unshakable direction of effort, work toward your goal, and command yourself to achieve almost anything in life.
Passive meditation
Sit in the most comfortable position and focus on the selected object. Few meditation techniques I learned from yoga include candle meditation, breathing meditation and OM mantra meditation.
Example: In a dark room, close your eyes to look at the flame of a candle and see its afterimage.
Active meditation
One of the meditation techniques I learned from Zen is to do an activity that puts your mind in the golden age of instant experience-here and now.
Examples: Martial arts, chess game or any work that requires your full and undivided care.
The Practice
Practice is a more important element of self-discipline training. It should be without attachment to any objective or purpose.
Why? Because once the goal has been achieved, there is no more reason to pursue practice. However, separated can be continuous and sustained, as well as jealous and dedicated.
Includes a regular part of your day to disciplined activities. Perform at least one activity towards an objective or purpose.
The application
Once the practice has instilled self-discipline as the second nature for you, you can replicate this ability for an unlimited number of times in compliance with your other objectives.
Importance of Rewards for Improvements in Self-Discipline
Give yourself a reward for every achievement of your self-discipline. Celebrate your achievements, even in small ways. If you don't, the unpleasant thoughts of your experience are impressive.
Rewards do not always have to be material. It can be as simple as the satisfaction of success. Remember, it should be something that helps you move forward, not backward, just like food when you are trying to lose weight.
